Packing guidelines
Eight steps for the packing line
MA packaging works when the prerequisites are in place. Post these at the line.
- Use the StayFresh grade specified for your crop and pack size.
- Follow the fill-weight guideline. Do not overfill.
- Trim roots and remove soil before packing.
- Pack dry. Surface water causes condensation and decay.
- Place produce gently, then remove excess air.
- Heat seal or close tightly so air passes only through the film.
- Stand bags upright in the outer case where possible.
- Use as primary packaging inside ventilated cartons or crates, never airtight containers.
